The Florida Academic Library Services Cooperative website provides information, training, tools, and other resources for library staff at the colleges and universities served by the Florida Virtual Campus (FLVC).
Visitors are invited to learn more about the Florida Academic Library Services Cooperative (FALSC) and the 150+ libraries at our state's 40 public institutions of higher education. A clickable map locates the colleges and universities that we serve and provides links to each institution's library website.
FALSC MOVES FORWARD ON A NEW ILS
On December 22, 2018, the University of West Florida’s Procurement Office released an Invitation to Negotiate (ITN) on behalf of FALSC for a new shared Integrated Library System (ILS) for all 40 institutions. This new ILS will replace our current system, Aleph, which has been in place for over 15 years. Vendor responses are due back March 1st. All responses will be reviewed and scored by an Evaluation Team, who were chosen by the Executive Committee of the Members Council. In addition, approximately 50 library and FALSC staff with varying backgrounds and expertise have been appointed as Reviewers to assist in the process. A recommendation on which system to implement should be made by the end of May.
For more details and the latest information on the ILS selection, please refer to FALSC’s special Libguide page about the project.
UPDATE FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR: February may be the shortest month of the year, but we seem to be able to pack it full of activity! We’re right around the corner from the second FLVC OER Summit, which will be held February 27 - 28, in Orlando, FL. This year’s OER Summit is designed to enable attendees to learn how to identify, modify, and design OER. We are honored, this year, to have three exceptional guest speakers: Nicole Allen, Director of Open Education at SPARC; Una Daly, Director of the Community College Consortium for Open Educational Resources (CCCOER); and Ethan Senack, Policy and Outreach Manager for Creative Commons USA. To read about the latest FALSC projects, view the February Update.
