Florida Digital Archive
The mission of the Florida Digital Archive (FDA) is to provide a cost-effective, long-term preservation repository for digital materials in support of teaching and learning, scholarship, and research in the state of Florida. The services of the FDA are available to the libraries in the Florida state university system and their partners. The FDA is a program of the Florida Virtual Campus (FLVC).
Our repository:
The FDA repository stores approximately 112 terabytes of archived materials, representing over 70 million files submitted by 11 universities, making the FDA one of the largest digital repositories in the U.S.
Our software and preservation strategies:
DAITSS (Dark Archive in The Sunshine State) is the repository software developed by the Florida Center for Library Automation for the FDA. Our software is Open Source and available to any other repository.
DAITSS is OAIS (Open Archival Information System ISO 14721:2003) and PREMIS
(Preservation Metadata: Implementation Strategies) conformant. The Florida Digital Archive was the first fully OAIS conformant repository in production in the United States.
