Upcoming FALSC Regional User Meetings

Registration will open soon for the FALSC Regional User meetings in April and May. The focus of the meetings this year will be on the implementation of Innovative Interfaces’ Sierra and Encore/Duet for all forty public higher education institutions in Florida. Space is limited but staff at all levels and from all institutions are encouraged to attend to get a head start on learning about the new integrated library system (ILS).

Join us to learn more about the timeline and implementation plan for the new ILS. Innovative Interfaces staff will be on hand to provide an overview and demo of Sierra and Encore.  Find out what you can begin doing now to prepare. Participate in roundtables disucssions led by members of the implementation working groups. This is your chance to learn what to expect and to make your voice heard.

Syllabus Explorer

A new tool, the Syallabus Explorer is now available from the Open Syllabus Project. The tool contains over one million syllabi for analysis and research. The most common title listed on syllabi for Florida institutions in the tool is a book by Eddie Woodward called Florida State University. It has a teaching score of 39 versus the next most used title, Strunk and White, which has a teaching score of 100. The project provides interesting data to explore.
